Modern Slavery Statement - Fiscal Year 2023

Modern Slavery Statement for the Rent Reporting Association

Introduction and Commitment

The Rent Reporting Association ("RRA") holds a core belief: that dignity, respect, and ethical practices should be at the forefront of our business operations. As an organization rooted deeply within the UK's property and rental sector, we acknowledge the responsibilities bestowed upon us. In our commitment to these principles, we are unequivocally dedicated to ensuring that all facets of our operations and supply chains are void of modern slavery and human trafficking. We view this not just as a legal obligation, but as a moral imperative.

Understanding Modern Slavery

Modern slavery is a heinous crime and a morally reprehensible act that deprives a person's liberty and dignity for another person's gain. It is a real and significant issue in today’s global society, manifesting in various forms such as forced labour, servitude, child labour, and human trafficking. The RRA is committed to understanding more about modern slavery and updating our practices regularly to prevent its occurrence.

Our Business Structure, Operations, and Supply Chains.

Operating primarily within the UK, the Rent Reporting Association serves as a bridge between landlords and tenants, ensuring transparent, ethical, and fair interactions. Our direct operations, though not traditionally associated with high risks of modern slavery, involve a broad spectrum of activities. Our supply chains, while not expansive, play a pivotal role in our business model. As such, we are proactive in ensuring that they reflect our values and commitment against any form of exploitation.

Due Diligence and Risk Assessment

To ensure that our standards and values are upheld, we conduct regular due diligence on all new and existing business partners. This involves a comprehensive evaluation of both their operations and their own supply chains. We utilise a risk-based approach, with particular focus on sectors or regions that may pose heightened risk. This enables us to make informed decisions and act swiftly should concerns arise.

Training and Capacity Building

Recognising the importance of awareness, the Rent Reporting Association has instituted a rigorous training program for our staff. This ensures they understand the nuances of modern slavery, can identify potential warning signs, and take appropriate actions when necessary. Our training regimen is updated regularly to encapsulate the evolving nature of the threat posed by modern slavery.

Supplier Adherence to Our Ethics

We hold our suppliers to the same ethical standards to which we hold ourselves. All suppliers are required to confirm that they provide safe working conditions, treat workers with dignity and respect, and act both ethically and within the confines of the law in their usage of labour. The RRA reserves the right to terminate relationships with suppliers who do not adhere to our guidelines.

Reporting Mechanism

Our commitment extends to ensuring an open line of communication for all stakeholders, including employees, suppliers, and the broader community. Anyone with concerns related to our direct operations, our supply chains, or the broader industry is encouraged to voice these issues. We assure all whistleblowers that their concerns will be treated with utmost confidentiality and addressed promptly and professionally.

Continuous Improvement

Our battle against modern slavery is ongoing. The Rent Reporting Association is committed to regular reviews of our practices, policies, and procedures. This ensures that our efforts remain aligned with legislative changes and sector-specific guidelines, and also that we continually adapt to the ever-evolving challenge posed by modern slavery.
